LGBTQ+ Seniors of the Inland Northwest August 2025 newsletter

And - the dog days of August are upon us. Gardens ripening for the plucking, vacations zipping by, tinkering with the AC, all part of the pleasures of summer.

How About Some Good (including queer) News?

The International Court of Justice ruled in July that a safe climate is a human right and a legal duty.

A new vaccine is about to hit the market - a six-in-one shot that protects against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, polio, and Haemophilus influenza type B. Look it up!

A study was just released about a single gene reboot that lets mice regrow damaged organs.

Weeks after his farewell concert, Ozzy Osborne has died. That concert was the largest charity fundraising concert ever. Birmingham Children's Hospital will receive $190 million. What an exit Ozzy!

Community in Indianapolis gathered to protest the Sure Foundation Baptist Church and their hateful statements about the queer community.

New Hampshire republican Governor vetoed two anti-LGBTQ+ laws sent by the legislature

The White House is reversing its plans to cut global HIV/AIDS programs through PEPFAR. It may be hard to trust the White House on anything they say at this point, but at least here's one statement to cheer about.

For all our queens and princesses, Maud Behn, fifth in line to the Norwegian throne, became the first Norwegian royal to come out.  Divas be proud!

More locally, word is that there was a very nice potluck in July and a very fun Lunch on the Town last week.  More please.

We also heard from folks at Aging and Long Term Care of Eastern Washington at our speaker third Friday Zoom hour. There was a lot of good information presented about support available to us as seniors. The talk can be found here:

Stay tuned for a fun, informative August zoom speaker on queer life abroad.

Let's end with words of wisdom from old Mrs. Gutherie in Bonners Ferry. She said, "I always figured that if you can breathe and pass water, it can't be all bad."
