HOT, dry and smoky. And so many fires in the region! PLEASE be careful, prepared and informed. Several of our subscribers have been or are on evacuation alert. All of us are susceptible to the effects of smoke and heat. Seniors, in particular, must take care in these trying summer times.

On the good news front our social gatherings continue to provide safe, fun and tasty queer space in a variety of venues. So whether it be Taco Tuesday, Lunch OUT on the Town or Pot Luck Saturday, c'mon out to one or more of our supportive times to enjoy the company. Several people have commented on meeting new people at many of our events. Whether you are in the process of coming out, or new to the area, or a queer old timer, we welcome your presence. See the calendar below for our August dates. 

There will not be a Steering Committee Meeting in August. If you have comments or topics for discussion, please submit them through our website and we will address them at our annual retreat on Saturday, September 26.

Our 3rd Friday zoom speaker for July was Dr. Pam Kohlmeier. Dr. Pam is an ER doctor and lawyer. She is also a strong ally of the LGBTQ+ community who is running for municipal office in Spokane. Dr. Pam gave a very insightful and meaningful talk about the coming out journey of her deceased adult child. We wish her and her family well in their efforts for the community and for their personal healing. 

Jenna Knight, director of marketing and outreach for OutstandingLife.org will be joining us as our 3rd Friday zoom speaker on August 21. Her organization works to expand and promote culturally appropriate virtual programming and social spaces for queer seniors. Please join us for a very interesting hour. 

August calendar of events:

August 4, Tuesday at noon: Taco Tuesday.

August 8, Saturday at noon: Pot Luck. Always good food and conversation. 

August 20, Thursday, 10-12 am: Coffee & Conversation. Tea and coffee provided, you have to make your own conversation.

August 21, 3rd Friday Zoom at 4 pm: Our speaker will be Jenna Knight, director of marketing and outreach for OutstandingLife.org

August 26, Wednesday at noon: Lunch-OUT-on-the-Town.

every Friday Zoom call at 4 pm: This is a space for queer seniors to share about their week, support others and have a sense of community.
