February 2026 Newsletter

Welcome to February Dear Readers:

And welcome to a world in turmoil. There are many good things that have happened in our community this past month. Sadly, they are overshadowed by the horrific carnage in our country, most notably in Minnesota and Maine, currently. The blatant murders of innocent civilians by federal authorities, the unlawful arrest and brutal methods used to subdue people based on their appearance or skin color, the ongoing threats to anyone protesting, are disgusting. They are also discouraging if we let them be.

Last spring we had two speakers that talked about their work in supporting trans families fleeing red states to protect their children. One of them shared that she felt it was now time for people to determine the personal level of risk each of us was willing to take. Not everyone can handle being arrested or confronted by authorities at protests. There are consequences that we must each assess for ourselves so that we can best determine our own path in making a difference at this time.

Everything that was talked about during that zoom call is now coming into focus. To paraphrase Gandhi, what is important is to do the right thing. You may not see the result in your lifetime, but what is important is to do the right thing. We are each now called upon to do the right thing, whatever you determine that to be.

One way of showing support is to connect with the brave citizens of Minnesota who are standing up at great risk to their lives and liberty. At ‘Stand with Minnesota’, you can donate to a variety of organizations there, you can spread the word about what is going on, you can simply contact the groups and let them know you support them. The choice is yours.
