November News

Democracy, LGBTQ+ rights, personal freedom, health care and so much more are on the line Tuesday, November 5. Many have already voted by mail, some are waiting for the day. If you need a ride to the polls, please let us know. We will try our best to arrange a ride for you, no matter what state or area you live in. This is an historic occasion in which we progress with a woman of character, or return to chaos with a madman. Your voice matters - use it!

Our October potluck was delicious! And Friendly - so many interesting conversations were going on that it was hard to touch base with everyone. Thank you to the volunteers who came early to help set up and stay late to clean up. Particular thanks to Dale and Nancy for the early setup. And to Nancy for coordinating between the participating groups.

We partnered with Consistent Care and UU to offer a vaccination clinic at the same time as the potluck. The vaccination staff stayed to eat with us after administering free covid and flu shots. Thank you to Consistent Care and UU for helping us stay healthy.

Our Lunch on the Town each month has been popular for those folks who can make it. Several people have shared that it is a nice way to meet other queer elders. Thanks to Hannah for putting it all together. Come join us if you can.   This month due to Thanksgiving Lunch OUT on the Town will be held on November 20th at Island Style Food and BBQ 2931 N. Division.  They serve Hawaiian and Polynesian food.

Healing thoughts go out to Al, one of our original members, who has had a tough time this past month. Al was sent back to rehab on Tuesday afternoon, at N. 7411 Nevada.  He and Ray both have covid.  Earlier I sent an email saying the wrong containing an incorrect area code.  Their area code is 760.  On the mend, we hope. Kuddos to the folks who stepped up from our group to support Al at some critical moments.

A word of caution as winter looms - this is a great time to make sure that you are prepared for snow, ice and dark days - flashlights, sand, shovels, coats, gloves and hats and winter tires everybody! Many of us now tag team with others daily, just to check in and verify that we are ok. If you would like to connect with someone as a safety buddy, let us know and we will connect you.
